Industry Networking Business

When the guests arrived they were treated to a beverage of their choice to warm them up on the cool day. Chatter and chit chat began to fill the air as old friends gathered around the fire and new friendships were being formed. After a few minutes of mingling and making new friends, the crowd gathered inside with excitement to hear what Petra and the guest speakers had to say.

Petra, the owner of Majestic Weddings opened the discussion with talk of the importance of the wedding industry uniting in Port Elizabeth and in the Eastern Cape. The talk focused on how the wedding industry needs to work together and support one another to ensure all aspects flourish, reminding us we all “value and benefit from collaborations.” The Majestic Weddings App was a huge hit and several ladies started downloading it during the talk. The App is a great way for brides planning their wedding to find vendors in and around Port Elizabeth. It’s a fantastic way for vendors to advertise their services and be easily found by the brides. Petra also touched on the unavoidable DIY trend that is taking place, making it a bit more difficult for vendors in the industry. The talk also touched on the prices that are charged and that they must be kept relevant and realistic in order to prevent losing more brides to the DIY trend.

After some scrumptious snacks provided by the venue, Beans with Wings, we got a wake-up call from Melvin and Cameron from Yo!Media about the realities of ever-changing social media and how to keep up with the changing algorithms of Facebook. The men taught us how to make sure our business profiles keep getting visits, likes and interactions.

It was great to see that not even the miserable weather could stop the wedding industry folk from gathering, socializing and sharing their ideas and stories. A truly inspirational group of people that ensure every bride in and around Port Elizabeth has the day of their dreams from start to finish.
